Hello! My name is Mrs. Tanier-Gesner
Welcome to my class! Students, Parents, Fellow Educators, I am so glad you are here. I cannot wait for school to start, to get to teaching and learning along the way. This is my first year as a teacher. I've graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Secondary Education, with a focus on English and Language Arts. My personal favorite activities include volunteering at my own children's school, hiking, writing poetry, and reading historical fiction. My favorite author is James Alexander Thom.
This is an introductory English class for 9th grade students. Here we will learn to write well formatted essays, and the basics of how to produce academic research papers. We'll also be creating a group research project using the amazing Microsoft PowerPoint tool, and use critical thinking to learn all about our how English skills can and will help us reach our goals! We will be reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee (one of my favorites). Throughout this semester, our class will work together to find different and fun ways to build our skills, and how to effectively communicate with one another. Let's get started!
